Receiving Payouts

Herohero's first and foremost mission is to help you create a living from what you have to offer to the world.

How can you start receiving payments from your subscribers?

All it takes to start making money on Herohero is to successfully connect your account to Stripe. In the Payout section of your profile settings, fill in your billing information, set up your subscription price (see How to set up an adequate price? for tips 💡) and finally – connect your bank account to the payment gate – Stripe (so that fans can send you financial rewards) 💸.

You will be asked to verify your Stripe account by uploading the required documents. These documents are checked by artificial intelligence only and are deleted immediately after the verification process is completed. We strongly recommend you follow our guide below for maximum efficiency:

  1. Proof of identity – upload a photo of your passport or driver's licence from both sides. The photo should be cropped so it only features the document with no distracting background and all the text should be legible (e.g. not blurred or smudged).

  2. Proof of address – upload a photo of your identity document (ID) from both sides. Your ID contains an address that should then be pasted into the corresponding box in the exact format as it is stated in the document. All the text should also be legible.

💡 If Stripe has any trouble accepting the documents you submitted, contact us at [email protected] for further assistance.

💡 In case you already own a Stripe account, it's still necessary to create a new one via Herohero for the connection between your respective accounts to work properly.

Where to update your billing information?

If you want all Herohero invoices to be issued to a different individual or entity from a certain date, you need to update these details in your profile settings under the Payout section and then in your Stripe account. If the change should apply from month Y, make sure to complete the update after the end of month X to ensure it’s not reflected in the documents for that month.

This procedure also applies in cases where the change is related to VAT registration for the same individual.

Where can you add or change your connected bank account(s)?

You can easily manage your connected bank accounts via your Stripe account (you can access it via the Payout section of your profile settings).

We recommend to always add a bank account in the same currency as your subscription price tier (EUR or USD) to avoid currency conversion. If you add a bank account in any other native currency than your subscription price tier is, your balance will be converted to this currency by Stripe during the payout process (using the current Stripe exchange rate).

💡 If you're replacing a bank account with another in a different default currency, we recommend to do so right after you receive your payout for the previous month (around the 1st to 3rd day of the month) to prevent your remaining balance of the original currency accumulating in your Stripe account and getting "stuck" (without any connected account in this currency, the balance can't be paid out).

If you have any further questions regarding changing your bank accounts or your Stripe balance currencies, feel free to contact us at [email protected] for direct assistance.

How to understand your payout estimates?

There are four important numbers that reflect your Herohero income.

In our user interface, you can find two of them – the first one is your net income (which could be found in the Insights section in your profile settings), which reflects your income in a selected time period, our fee and VAT already accounted for. The second one is your Estimated recurring income number (found on your Subscribers page), which is an estimate based on the current number of active subscribers who continue with their subscription in the next billing period, our fee and VAT already accounted for. If a user canceled their subscription from the next billing period but is still currently subscribed to you, their payment will not be accounted for in this estimate, but you will still receive it along with your next payout. This estimate is therefore always understated.

The third number is your Stripe balance (could be accessed through the Payout section of our profile settings via My Stripe Account), which reflects the current state of your Stripe account and the funds accumulated there (our fee and VAT already accounted for). This amount will be partially paid out with your next payout. ❗️ Please mind that payments received during the last 5-7 business days of the calendar month will be paid out together with the payout for the following month (Stripe withholds these payments for the purpose of possible refunds).

The fourth number is the exact sum of each payout, which can be found retrospectively through your Stripe account and via invoices automatically generated after you receive your payout.

When will you receive your payout?

Herohero uses Stripe services for processing payments and payouts. After you successfully connect your profile to Stripe and get at least one paying subscriber, you will receive your first payout. If you connect a Stripe account in a currency other than your Herohero currency, Stripe will do the conversion (not your bank). Payouts are automatically sent on the first business day of the month to the bank account linked to your Stripe account 💸.

💡 A detailed overview of the payments included in every payout can be found in the Payout section of your profile settings, under Invoices: click an invoice and select Show Google Sheet. You can also control your finances in your Stripe account, which you can access through your profile in the Payout section.

What fees do we charge?

Herohero takes a 10 % fee + VAT to maintain and improve our platform. This is the only fee you pay.
